Postive stories of Frank Costello for and from Lauropoli Italy residents

Maria Saveria Castiglia Costello family 1920's

Photograph sent by Carlo Forace of Maria Saveria some time in 1920's. My best guess is it was taken in 1920's. Perhaps in Astoria New York.

girl in front next to my great grandmother is Sadie Castiglia Moscella, behind her is Catherine (Katie) Castiglia Aloise, next to her is not known and frankie is Catherine's son....Catherine was married to Eddie Aloise which was my grandmothers brother and Catherine's 1st cousin

That is terrific information.  Will be able to feed back to Carlo in Italy.. Do

you know the name for the "not Frankie" child??  The one in the back could be a child of

one of the girls or Eduardo maybe?? Or just a friend.. looks too young to be Eduardo's wife, who did live with Maria and Luigi on East 108th Street.. she is in the census.. Eduardo was in Chicago at the time.

Just noticed in the background a man in a straw hat and a lady who look like they

were part of what was going on at the time..

I asked my mother she is unsure of the people in the background.. That was taken in Astoria. Could of been a friend my mother said it was not a relative...

FYI  Catherine looks a lot my Great Aunt Concetta when she was much younger. Both Francesco and Luigi Castiglia had the same father Domenico. Which is how my Grandfather Domenico gets his name.

My Aunt Concetta was about 4 ft 10 and weighed 88 to 90 pounds..

Bet you can't balance a pail of water, load of wood or laundry on your head and walk down to the river to wash it???? :):):)  They tried to teach me.. did not work out..

Dana you are just the right size..I know I am too heavy.. at 5'6" and look a lot like Jack Aloise.. with the characteristic Italian nose.:):)
