I believe I am a distant relative based on the family research I have been doing. I am hoping finding the exact connection may help me track down more of my family in Lauropoli. My great-grandfather Antonio Mancuso came over in about 1895 with his siblings, they are all from Lauropoli. His parents are Pasquale Mancuso and Marie Milano. I have been unable to get any more info on their siblings or parents, many of whom never came to the US.
One of Antonio's brothers is the Tammany Hall Judge Francis X Mancuso who was very close friends with Frank Costello. In researching the judge I found several places in the news and court docs that state their relationship as being "blood relatives" and in one that their "first cousins had married" as well as that their "people come from the same town of Lauropoli".
So, if you have any knowledge of family in Lauropoli that married a Mancuso, let me know!
One of your Family Friends, Professor Frank Rizzo went back to Lauropoli after the 1950's we met his Granddaughter who worked in the Municipal building, and helped us find Iuele cousins we had only heard about. We visited in 1999. It is unique and quaint and there is much history in Cassano Ionio..
Christine.. Welcome.. good to know you.. We all know of Judge Mancuso; and FYI My Great Aunt "Tilly" was Clotilde Milano 1898-1969. Frank Castiglia Costello loved her spaghetti sauce and use to send a driver over [ Jack Aloise] another cousin over to pick it up. Hannibal Milano another Judge was I believe Aunt Tillie's brother but I need to check this out.. I will copy some of our Castiglia cousins and Aunt Tillies daughter Pamela.. who knows a lot more then I do.. Tilly was married to Luigi Castiglia my Great Uncle and Grandfather Domenico Castiglia's brother. I will copy some of the Aloise Family relatives who know more about "first cousin" relationships as well. Although in my research it seems most everyone from the Lauropoli were cousins somewhere. Many of the Aloise family is closely connected to Frank Costello though his mother Saveria Aloise Castigia married to Frank's father Luigi Castiglia. Frank Costello is my first cousin twice removed. His Uncle was my Great Grandfather Francesco Castiglia and my Grandfather Domenico was his first cousin. If you Facebook friend me we will connect you with Lauropoli residents who know the family, and you can perhaps find out more. [Noel Castiglia] request as friend ... We have our family Tree on Ancestry.com and if you like and send me an email I will invite you as a guest on the site. We also have access to the Italian Archives on line via a cousin in Sacramento Nick Bloise who I will also copy. Another cousin Robert Golden wrote a good book on Lauropoli you should get for history.. on www.lulu.com look up Lauropoli and other thoughts about the Italians
How is everything with you, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on:(mrsstellaabudheir@gmail.com ) for the full details.
Have a nice day
Thanks God bless.
