Hi Noel, I am Dana's brother and I am confused. As I understand it..your great great grand father is Francesco. Who is your Grand Father? I am very confused
I believe I am a distant relative based on the family research I have been doing. I am hoping finding the exact connection may help me track down more of my family in Lauropoli. My great-grandfather Antonio Mancuso came over in about 1895 with his siblings, they are all from Lauropoli. His parents are Pasquale Mancuso and Marie Milano. I have been unable to get any more info on their siblings or parents, many of whom never came to the US.
One of Antonio's brothers is the Tammany Hall Judge Francis X Mancuso who was very close friends with Frank Costello. In researching the judge I found several places in the news and court docs that state their relationship as being "blood relatives" and in one that their "first cousins had married" as well as that their "people come from the same town of Lauropoli".
So, if you have any knowledge of family in Lauropoli that married a Mancuso, let me know!
My Uncle was Frank Rizzo of Lauropoli. I wrote several comments about my trips to that town with my late husband. My niece passed along this website to me.
I am not a geneologist nor am I a journalist. Just the niece of Frank Rizzo.
I am sorry to hear of the high cost site fees. Are you located in the USA or Lauropoli?
Frank Castiglia-Costello's sister, May was my grandfather, Louis Gilberti's mother. My grandfather and grandmother, along with my father and aunt, as well as my grandfather's brothers and families, moved from New York in the 30's, following the slot machine business to New Orleans, LA.
Noel, just connected today with photos 10-23-23. We will have to check out FB "Uncle Frank site". My Mom, Karen, knows much more than I, i.e., yes, there was a brother Anthony, and sister, Laura, her name was changed to Cecelia in the adoption=however, both robbed millions from us and our house, after Al died=both very evil, nevertheless, somehow my Mom, Karen, raised us after my Dad died, a month before I was born, of a virus (unknown to medicine back then) that he picked up in VietNam--meliodosis, called the "VietNam Time Bomb." She would like to ask you if Pinky Costello also of North Trenton, was related. The FBI swarmed the cemetary taking photos of license plates when he died she remembers. She toldme that a couple of times when she and my Dad came home at night time, Al and Sam DeCavalcante (lived in Princeton area) would be sitting outside the "Al's Auto Body" shop he owned, chatting and spoke with my parents. Bobby DeCavalnte and my Dad were friends when they were young. No, Al Leopardi was not connected, not sure though. My parents lived in the upstairs living quarters from the body shop...and much more.
